Whether or not we struggle with emotional issues, most people feel the need to keep growing spiritually. Sometimes that desire for spiritual development comes out of a struggle within oneself to deepen their relationship with God, or to understand more about one;s own faith. At other times an individual may realize they feel a need for spiritual development as a way to deepen their faith and understanding of the unseen world around them.

Whether you are facing a spiritual crisis, or simply yearning to know more about God, counselors who work with issues of spiritual development and direction can help you to deepen your relationship with God, and your understanding of your own faith and spirituality. It is important to know that at the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia, our counselors’ approach is not to preach or proselytize any one particular belief system or faith tradition, but instead to help each person find the beliefs and faith that work best for them. Counselors trained in spiritual development can help a person address spiritual issues as well as emotional issues, thus allowing the person to integrate important aspects of their emotional, physical and spiritual lives.

The following counselors work with spiritual development and can help you explore your relationship with God, and to authentically live your faith in your everyday life:

Stephanie L. Shaefer Ph.D., M.Ed., L.P.C. Approved Supervisor for LPCs and MFCCs
