Heather Guthrie-Hoey

FlowersHeather Guthrie-Hoey, MS, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage family therapist, serving individuals, couples, groups, families, and organizations for 10+ years.

Providing therapeutic care throughout the United States and Germany to individuals aged from 3 to 93, led Heather to learn about the power of focusing on the strengths of people in a solution-focused, compassionate manner. Life enrichment and wellness with a respectful reverence to one’s personal philosophy is at the core of her work.

Heather’s practical experience in community mental health settings, schools, hospice, private practice, and families’ home around such areas as marital conflict/growth, divorce, grief&loss, eating disorders, and substance abuse, coupled with military family life adjustment & crisis support, have offered her a fresh, up close & open-minded perspective of human dynamics from all walks of life.

Additional therapeutic areas of focus Heather is trained in include: management of depression & anxiety, recovery from trauma, dealing with chronic pain & illness, pre-marital counseling, intimacy issues, including sexuality, parent/child focus, family reunification, foster care & adoption, communication building, and organizational mediation. Incorporation of a comprehensive approach to self healing & self discovery may include: coordination of services with other solid health care professionals, exercise, nutrition, meditation, strengthening your support system, and supporting any expressed desire to include an exploration of your spiritual self.

Counseling is tailored to meet the comfort & therapeutic needs of those she serves. Young children, adolescents and adults are all welcome during the day and some evenings at the Dale City office or on-site for organizational training & crisis intervention.
