(Resident in Counseling)*
Devika Campbell is a UK trained relational psychotherapist using Transactional Analysis techniques. She works with anxiety, depression, trauma and resolving personal blocks to growth. She has many years training and experience in working with women survivors of child sexual abuse as well as a background in supporting individuals suffering with mental health issues.
As a relational therapist she works mainly within the relationship one has with oneself and indeed others, this includes the therapeutic relationship. She is interested in the importance of spiritual connection regardless of faith and in the making sense of and exploration of ones own path.
Sessions take place in an environment where clients are heard with respect and without judgement. She aims for both client and therapist to understand both the roots of psychological problems and the significance of their existence in the present.
Having a mixed background and also having experience of relocation she also has an interest in how new environments and significant life changes interplay with the present.
Prior to her psychotherapy training she obtained a Bachelors Degree at City University (London) in Sociology and Psychology.
Devika’s primary offices are in DC and Arlington and she can be reached on voicemail extension 211 or email at devika.campbell@yahoo.co.uk.
Devika has Saturday hours available in Arlington.
*Center for Pastoral Counseling’s residents form a select group. Residents are counselors, who spend 1-2 years with CPC receiving additional specialized training in pastoral counseling, under the supervision of CPC’s most experienced therapists. Some residents come to CPC after completing their graduate education in counseling, and others come to us, having already worked for many years in the field, and wishing to refine their expertise in integrating issues of spirituality and psychology.
Residents work on a sliding fee scale and are available to see clients who require reduced-fee counseling. This helps provide much-needed services for those who are unable to pay full fees for counseling.
