Nancy Scott, LCSW, ACSW is a licensed clinical social worker who received her M.S.W. degree from the University of Louisville in 1980. She has been a psychotherapist in Northern Virginia since 1986. Prior to that she worked in a variety of settings providing services to individuals and families, including foster care, adolescent group homes and a psychiatric hospital.

Nancy specializes in working with severe and chronic depression and other mood disorders, suicidal ideation and survivors of suicide, grief & loss, marriages in crisis due to an affair, women’s issues, families under stress because of mental illness and/or substance abuse, parenting issues, military families, and sexual identity. She works with adolescents (Middle School and High School aged) and adults of all ages and stages of life. She has received training in the Prepare/Enrich curriculum for couples, and uses that in working with couples who are seeking premarital counseling as well as counseling couples and families.

She also enjoys giving community presentations on a variety of topics, and is available to speak to churches and community groups.

Nancy has a special interest in working with people in the “last third” of their lives, helping them come to terms with age-related issues. These can include changes in living situations, coping with a loved one with Alzheimers and end-of-life decisions. She is a Medicare provider.
