Cheryl Zandt

Cheryl ZandtCheryl Zandt, MS, MDiv, is a kind and energetic clinical counselor who uses the cognitive behavioral models most recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health for people living with acute anxiety, stress, trauma, panic attacks, phobias, OCD, and low self-esteem.  Her approach to pastoral counseling is warm and engaging, honoring what is unique in every person.

She is a member of the United Methodist clergy and does extensive work with people in crises of faith and with clergy of any faith tradition seeking confidential support.  Cheryl  is also experienced in working with couples and doing premarital consultation, helping them to identify their strengths and engage in conversations that will help their marriage thrive and be a place of renewal and joy while facing life’s challenges realistically.

Cheryl is a member of the American Counseling Association, received her MS in clinical pastoral counseling from Loyola College in Maryland, her MDiv with an emphasis in pastoral care and counseling from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC and studied for a year in the school of ecumenical theology in Tübingen, Germany with Hans Küng’s Global Ethic Project.  She is currently working toward a PhD in pastoral counseling at Loyola College in Maryland.

In addition to having written various articles about anxiety and the connection between spirituality and self-esteem, Cheryl has also been interviewed by Religion and Ethics Newsweekly and The Examiner about depression and spirituality.

Her office is in Washington DC at Metro Center. This location is easily accessible by public transportation and street parking is available for those coming by car.
